Our standards
Zero tolerance. Child sexual abuse and exploitation has no place in Chat or in any other app of Anandians Connections, operated by Anandians Connections (OPC) Private Limited. These standards apply to everything in our apps — public posts, group conversations and private messages alike — and to every account, whether or not the person is a child.
In these standards, a child is anyone below the age of eighteen, as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 defines it (section 2(1)(d)).
What is prohibited
Do not use our apps to:
- share, store or ask for child sexual abuse material — any photo, video or image showing a child in sexually explicit conduct, including computer-generated, altered or AI-made images that appear to show a child;
- groom a child — befriend or contact a child in order to get sexual contact, or sexual images, online or offline;
- sextort a child — threaten or blackmail a child using real or claimed intimate images;
- sexualise a child — sexual comments, imagery or role-play about a child, or anything that encourages or promotes the sexual abuse of children;
- traffic or solicit a child — advertise or arrange a child for sexual exploitation;
- target a child with sexual interaction of any kind, or post anything else that harms a child (IT Rules, rule 3(1)(b)(iii)).
These are part of our acceptable use rules, and so of our terms.
What we do when we learn of it
When we learn of child sexual abuse or exploitation in our apps — from a report, or in any other way — we:
- remove it, or disable access to it;
- close the accounts involved;
- keep the material and its records, unchanged, only for the police and the courts — for 180 days or longer if they require (IT Rules, rule 3(1)(g)) — and for no other purpose;
- report it to the police or the national cyber-crime portal, and hand over the material and where it came from, as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Rules, 2020 require of a service like ours (rule 11), and as the Act requires of anyone who knows of such an offence (section 19).
Report it in the app
Use Report on the message or post. A person reviews every report. In development
Report it to us
Write to our grievance officer, marked “URGENT — child safety”. Content showing a person’s private area, nudity or a sexual act is removed within 2 hours of a complaint — the urgent route — and a parent, or anyone acting for the person shown, may make it (rule 3(2)(b)).
Send the link, or say where it appears — never the material itself. Do not copy, forward or screenshot it to send to us: passing on such material is an offence, except to report it as the law sets out (section 15 of the Act).
Report it to the police
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police at once.
- The law asks everyone to report. Anyone who knows of, or fears, a sexual offence against a child must tell the Special Juvenile Police Unit or the local police (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, section 19). A report made in good faith carries no civil or criminal liability (section 19(7)).
- Online, report to the Government of India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. It accepts complaints about child sexual exploitative and abuse material under “Report Crime related to Women/ Child”, and also has an option to report anonymously.
Reporting to us does not replace reporting to the police: please do both.
